A very important book is missing. The Grande Sertão Veredas' english translation published by American publishing house, Alfred A. Knopf in 1963, has been out of print for decades. The scarcity of the masterful Brazilian modernist work prompted Felipe W. Martinez to start an online platform: By making this absence visible he has created a platform for a community of scholars and readers, prompting not only conversations but also the creation and circulation of pirated and alternative translations of the novel.
